Earning points for team tweets

If you are a team leader and add a Twitter address to your team profile you will earn points for your team every time you tweet mentioning either @bigenergyrace or #bigenergyrace. It's easy to set up a Twitter account if you don't already have one. Don't forget to follow us too.

Value of points

We want to encourage real action which will save energy, so challenges are scored accordingly.

We will also award more points for providing evidence of challenges being completed. If you write a short acticle for each challenge you complete you will gain even more points for your team.

Tips!

  • Teams with more members will score points more quickly
  • Completing actions, writing acticles and doing closing surveys will also build points more quickly.

Bonus points and prizes

We will award prizes on a weekly basis for Team of the Week and Individual of the week, commencing on 19 January 2015.

Team of the week

Team of the week will be scored on five factors of equal weight, based on the views of the race organisers:

  • Number of new members during the week
  • Percentage of team members who are active on the site during the week
  • Quality of articles written during the week about race activities
  • Evidence of activities taking place and energy saved, e.g. photos / videos uploaded, testimonials / quotes provided.
  • External communications such as posters, leaflets, social media, external blogs or news coverage

Teams can only win the prize once in each stretch. Teams competing to be Big Energy Race Champions in the final stretch are not eligible for the Team of the Week prize.

Individual of the week

This will be decided on three factors:

  • Number of Action Stations challenges completed for Big Energy Race (i.e. not completed beforehand)
  • Number of Pass the Baton challenges completed for Big Energy Race
  • Quality of articles written to describe and evidence achievements

An individual can only win this prize once during the race.
