How it all works

Getting started
Five steps to taking part in as a team in the Big Energy Race...

1. Register

Register to set up your Big Energy Race team. You'll be asked to confirm that you meet the race criteria.

2. Get race ready

Once you’ve registered you’ll receive your race pack by email and post, with ideas for recruiting as many people as possible to your team. You can also set up your 'Team HQ' on the website, with a personalised team badge (avatar).

3. Get your team members signed up

You can invite friends, family, neighbours, and local residents to sign up as team members in support of your team through this website. Each new team member will earn you more points.

4. Choose your energy saving challenges

The energy saving challenges are grouped into five topics: four relating to energy saving at home and one with suggestions of what your group can do in the local community.

You can complete challenges in any order and each challenge has points attached. You get extra points for uploading posts about your challenges and sharing photos and videos of your team in action.

5. Points and prizes

The more challenges you and your team members complete, the more points you’ll earn. The Big Energy Race leaderboard shows how teams and regions compare with each other, so you’ll have plenty of incentives to push your team up the leaderboard. Each week there’ll be a Team and an individual of the Week prize. The team with the most points at the end of the Race will be crowned Big Energy Race Champions.
