To see in the Final Stretch, Big Energy Race has offered exciting gifts and treats up for grabs if an existing team recommends a group to the race!

Within only a couple of weeks, we’ve had an increase in teams of 19%!

Massive thank you to everyone for taking part and being great energy advocates.

We’d like to welcome the following new teams:

Cumbria Action For Sustainability
Lune Valley Voices
Ecohouses TWB
Middlewood Trust
Lancaster Cohousing
Belper Gardening

Why not a think of which groups you might know and you could recommend to the Big Energy Race? There could be gadgets in it for you and them!

Over the next few weeks there are lots of things happening to raise awareness around water. Water Saving Week is on March 22nd-28th and this lands nicely with World Water Day. World Water Day has been around for 22 years and is on Sunday the 22nd March. It's a day to celebrate water...

Given that we’re big on water this week, what better time than to talk about the Flowsave Valve. Flowsave is a small valve that limits the flow of water from taps and showers until it’s just the right temperature. Typically people run the tap or shower until the water gets warm, so ...

With the Big Energy Race coming to an end soon, the team is already thinking about what we’ll be doing next time. Whether we’ll name it Big Energy Race 2, or Return of the BER, is undecided. What we do know is that we’d really like your feedback on the project!

In a couple of weeks’ time we’ll be asking you to send in feedback in whatever shape you’d like, so start having a wee think about what could be different or what could be better and why.

As first time participants, you’re feedback is invaluable and will help make the next Big Energy Race more energy-efficient and better than ever!

And lastly, in the spirit of community, we thought we’d share a bit about the team behind the Big Energy Race before the race ends. We’ll have one or two members of the team a week, and first up is Tom! Here’s what he had to say:

‘I've been with Global Action Plan for nearly 7 years, and really enjoy talking to groups of people about energy - I try to make it as interactive as possible. I've put together a lot of the challenges and resources, with help from other team members, who've helped me be more concise! I like the fact that Big Energy Race helps groups to use resources and content in their own community environment. I work from home in rural Derbyshire, and am keen to support groups in the East Midlands.’
